SEATTLE - The run support Felix Hernandez deserved in his three previous starts finally arrived. JaVale McGee Jersey . Logan Morrison hit two long home runs, Hernandez threw seven strong innings to win for the first time since June 2 and the Seattle Mariners used a six-run fourth inning to rout the Boston Red Sox 12-3 on Monday night. Seattle won its fourth straight after a weekend sweep in Kansas City. The Mariners finally provided Hernandez (9-2) with some runs and battered right-hander John Lackey (8-5) in his shortest outing since September 2011. Seattle had scored one run total while Hernandez was on the mound in his previous three starts. Getting a dozen against the Red Sox was more than enough for Seattles ace. "I was so happy. They came through. They were pretty good," Hernandez said. Hernandez set a club record with his eighth straight start pitching at least seven innings and allowing two earned runs or less. He struck out six, walked none and efficiently handed the Red Sox their fourth loss in five games. Hernandezs only miscues were David Ortizs RBI single in the first and Mike Napolis solo homer in the fourth. Morrison had the first multihomer game of his career. His solo shot in the second inning off Lackey pulled Seattle even and he added to the offensive outburst with a two-run homer in the seventh, a 421-foot drive to centre field off reliever Chris Capuano. Morrison finished with four hits for the third time in his career and four RBIs. Morrison felt he started to have better at bats last week against San Diego and carried over into the weekend series in Kansas City. "Just feeling like I could stay behind the ball better, put better swings on better pitches," Morrison said. "You stick to the process, stick to the process, keep grinding out at-bats and the next thing you know you look at the end of the year and have pretty good numbers. Thats what I hope happens this year." Seattles big fourth inning started with Robinson Canos double. Kyle Seager followed with an RBI single and Morrison was able to beat the Red Sox shift with a single into right field to put runners on the corners. Lackey was visibly miffed that Morrisons grounder got through the defence and he followed by walking Mike Zunino to load the bases. Dustin Ackley then had the at-bat that changed the game. Ackley made Lackey work for 13 pitches, eventually hitting a grounder to first. Napoli threw to second to get the second out but Lackey did not cover first base and the chance at an inning ending double play was missed. Seager scored and Lackey struggled with his composure. A wild pitch allowed Morrison to score and a walk to Brad Miller and Willie Bloomquists single loaded the bases. With one swing, Chavez surpassed his RBI total for the season. Brock Holt was playing shallow and unable to chase down Chavezs line drive, clearing the bases and giving Seattle a 7-2 lead. "I was trying to put something in play the whole at-bat and score a run there. He was making pitches," Ackley said. "There were maybe one or two, I could have handled but fouled off the rest. ... Fortunately it went a long way and he tired out a little bit. Lackey was done after 3 2-3 innings, snapping a string of 39 straight starts going at least five innings. He gave up seven hits and walked three. Lackey needed 36 pitches to get through three innings and threw 38 pitches in getting just two outs in the fourth. "I wasnt able to make a pitch to get out of there," Lackey said. "It kind of starting to go downhill and I couldnt stop it." NOTES: Hernandez allowed a homer for the first time since April 21 vs. Houston. ... Lackeys last start of less than five innings was May 14, 2013, vs. Tampa Bay when he went 4 1-3 innings. ... Boston manager John Farrell said its possible injured OF Shane Victorino (hamstring) could rejoin the team this weekend in New York depending on his rehab starts this week. Jerry West Jersey . Already owning gold from competition in Vancouver in 2010, Loch posted a combined four-run time of 3:27.526. That included a track-record third run of 51. Jamaal Wilkes Lakers Jersey .com) - Rick Nash scored twice and Derek Stepan chipped in a goal with one assist as the New York Rangers claimed a 5-2 decision over Calgary at the Saddledome. http://www.lakersteamofficial.com/ . The same cant be said of last Saturdays 2-2 draw at Olympic Stadium against a very weakened New York Red Bulls side and one which had three stalwarts in Henry, Cahill and Olave back home in Harrison, NJ.(SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Red Sox eye back-to-back wins and a series victory on Wednesday when they close out a three-game set with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. You can watch the game live on TSN2 and TSN GO at 7pm et/4pm pt. Boston has struggled on its nine-game road trip, but can close the trek with wins in three of its last four games after a brilliant effort from Brandon Workman in the Red Sox 1-0 win on Tuesday. Workman (1-0) had allowed only a walk to Nelson Cruz before Ryan Flaherty laced a clean single with two out in the bottom of the sixth. It was one of only two hits by Baltimore on the night, with Andrew Miller, Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara finishing off the shutout after Workman stymied the Orioles through 6 2/3 innings. "He was outstanding, especially in light of the two different rain delays," Boston manager John Farrell said of Workman. Bostons pitchers made Mike Napolis third-inning RBI single hold up to give the Red Sox just their second victory in eight games. Chris Tillman (5-3) was saddled with the hard-luck loss after permitting the lone run in six innings of work. "I was really pleased with Chris," Os manager Buck Showalter said. Elgin Baylor Jersey. "Unfortunately they just pitched a little better than we did." Orioles third baseman Manny Machado, suspended five games pending an appeal earlier in the day for throwing his bat onto the field Sunday against Oakland, was in the lineup and went 0-for-4. Heading to the hill for Boston on Wednesday will be righty Rubby De La Rosa, who is 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA. De La Rosa absorbed the loss on Friday in Detroit, as he surrendered four runs in 5 2/3 innings. He had tossed seven scoreless innings in his season debut a week earlier. "I feel almost 100 percent like last time," De La Rosa said. "I just missed more pitches." Baltimore, meanwhile, will turn to lefty Wei-Yin Chen, who is 6-2 with a 4.13 ERA. Chen did not factor in the decision of his teams 4-3 loss on Friday to Oakland, as he allowed two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 frames. Chen beat Boston earlier in the year and is 3-3 lifetime against them with a 5.26 ERA in nine starts. Boston has won five of its nine meetings with the Orioles this season. ' ' '

NEW YORK -- Rangers forward Chris Kreider is out indefinitely because of a left hand injury that requires surgery. Custom Minnesota Wild Jerseys . The Rangers say he will undergo surgery Friday in New York. The 22-year-old Kreider was injured one week ago in New Yorks win at Columbus, but played in the next two games. The left winger, who has 17 goals and 37 points in 66 games this season, was limited to about 10 minutes of ice time in the two games following his injury. He missed Wednesdays home win over Philadelphia and didnt accompany the team on its four-game Western Conference road trip that begins Friday night at Calgary. Kreider, the No. 19 pick in the 2009 NHL draft, leads New York with a plus-14 rating and is tied for first with six power-play goals. The Rangers are 11-2-1 in games in which he has a goal and 19-7-2 when he records a point. San Jose (2-3-4) stretched its unbeaten streak at home to three matches despite losing winger Shea Salinas to a straight red card after a studs-up tackle on Dallas defender Zach Loyd just before halftime. FC Dallas (5-5-1) slid to its fourth straight loss despite a stinging 20-yard free-kick goal by Michel in the 76th minute. Cato burst in behind the Dallas defence to give San Jose a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute, set free by a long pass forward by goalkeepeer Jon Busch and a redirecting header from centre back Clarence Goodson. Jonas Brodin Wild Jersey. It was the first career assist for Busch, a 14-year MLS veteran. San Jose doubled its lead off an own goal by Dallas substitute David Texeira in the 73rd minute, providing enough of a cushion to withstand Michels strike. The Earthquakes held on in the second half. Victor Ulloa banged a shot off the post in the 57th minute, and Busch scrambled across his goalmouth to deliver a body block on Blas Perezs rebound try. Matt Hedges, Fabian Castillo and rookie Tesho Akindele all missed wide for Dallas in the final 11 minutes of regulation. ' ' '

VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks were just over a minute away from celebrating a hard-earned victory Thursday. O. J. Simpson Youth Jersey . They were instead left to ponder what went wrong against an opponent that almost always has their number. Tomas Hertl tied the score on a broken play with 65 seconds left in regulation and Dan Boyle won it on the power play at 2:38 of overtime as the San Jose Sharks stormed back to stun the Canucks 2-1. Vancouver had killed 28 straight power plays until Boyle beat Roberto Luongo with a shot that needed video review. "It sucks," said Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa, who scored his first of the season for Vancouver. "Sometimes youre on the wrong end of these kind of games. "Getting a point is a positive against the top teams but two points was right there. Its early in the season. You dont want to get too down on yourself, but we deserved those two points." The Sharks have now won 10 of their last 11 against the Canucks. Vancouver led late in the third period until Boyles flubbed shot from the point found its way to Hertl at the side of the goal. The Czech teenager buried his chance past a helpless Luongo for his 11th of the season, which leads all rookies. Canucks captain Henrik Sedin was then whistled for hooking in overtime and the Sharks power play clicked. "We played a great game. I thought they got a really lucky break on their tying goal and they get a power play in OT and thats it," said Luongo, who finished with 28 saves. "Thats how close the NHL is. Were a minute away from playing, what I thought was a really great game, and all of a sudden it turns into a loss." Antti Niemi made 34 saves for the Sharks (12-2-5), who came in having dropped five of their last six and were outplayed for long stretches on Thursday. "This becomes the game you hear hockey people talk about the hockey gods, where it starts to even out," said Sharks head coach Todd McLellan. "We werent the better team tonight and we have been on the other end of that where we were the better team and found a way not to win it. Tonight we found a way to come back." In a scheduling quirk, Thursdays game was the final regular-season meeting between the Canucks (11-7-3) and Sharks in 2013-14, with San Jose winning three and losing one. "Its a kick in the teeth to lose it but looking at the big picture and some of the things we did against a pretty good hockey club, thats what we are going to take out of this," said Canucks coach John Tortorella. "We played a really good game right on through." Bieksa broke the scoreless tie on the power play at 13:40 of the second period when his shot from the point found its way through traffic past Niemi. Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows missed a glorious chance moments earlier before Henrik Sedin fed Bieksa for the one-timer. The goal snapped a 2-for-28 drought for Vancouver with the man advantage and was just the Canucks third power-play goal at Rogers Arena all season. Niemi kept the Canucks from doubling their lead with a big stop on Ryan Kesler with five minutes to go in the period. Canucks forward Chris Higgins had a chance off the rush early in the third that Niemi was equal to before the Sharks, who had just 17 shots through two periods, started to come on. After Henrik Sedin missed a wide-open net off a feed from his brother Daniel Sedin, Luongo made a big glove save on San Jose forward James Sheppard with under eight minutes to go. "Were trying to find ways," said Boyle. "Thats what its all about and in this league with the extra points they are giving now its just going to come down to the end of the year and you never know which extra point is going to solidify your playoff position or have you on the outside." The Canucks returned home Thursday after a 1-2-1 road trip against Pacific Division rivals, with the only victory coming in 4-2 decision over the Sharks on Nov. 7. Playing their first home game since a 4-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 2, the Canucks had a couple of early chances in a first period that was short on action. Niemi stopped Canucks defenceman Chris Tanev on a chance in the high slot five minutes in before shooting out his left pad to stop Mike Santorelli on the doorstep a few moments later. Vancouvers No. 1-ranked penalty kill was put to the test midway through the period when defenceman Alexander Edler was whistled for interference. The Sharks moved the puck around to Joe Thornton, but the San Jose captains heavy shot from the top of the faceoff circle rang off the crossbar behind Luongo and stayed out. "Youre not going to win every game you play great and sometimes you dont deserve to win and youre going to win," said Luongo. "Thats the way the NHL is. I think the main thing is we cant put our heads down." Notes: The Canucks power play entered the night ranked 28th overall. ... As TSN reported Thursday, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport is under intense pressure from the federal government to focus drug testing on athletes who compete in international events representing Canada. Since funding for the tests has been frozen and the cost of testing can eclipse $1,000 per test, university athletes in a number of sports are being tested less often. http://www.thefaclonsshoponline.com/John-cominsky-falcons-jersey/ .S. routed Sweden 7-0 Sunday to win its fourth straight title and seventh overall under-18 world championship. Olson earned his third shutout of the tournament and the Americans allowed only four goals in six games to set an International Ice Hockey Federation under-18 record. LONDON -- The doping retests from the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin involve 350 samples, cost $500,000 and are based on intelligence that targets athletes and events considered most at risk for cheating, the IOCs medical director said. Despite the cost, effort and an improved steroid test, its possible that very few -- if any -- positives will be detected, Dr. Richard Budgett told The Associated Press in an interview. "We just dont know what the results from Torino will be," Budgett said. "I wouldnt be at all surprised if its far, far, far less than people are speculating, despite this new method. Weve set the expectations at a sensible level. We do not expect necessarily to have any positives." Budgett provided the greatest detail so far of the International Olympic Committees reanalysis of the Turin samples, which includes a test that can detect steroid use going back months. The IOC stores Olympic samples for eight years to allow for retesting when new methods become available. With the deadline for the Turin samples expiring in February, the IOC is doing last-minute retesting to catch any cheats who got away at the time. "Approximately 350 samples are being analyzed," Budgett said in a telephone interview. "Weve selected them based on intelligence. It involves a bit under 200 athletes as many of the athletes have more than one sample." The retesting is "a good half way through" and the results will be finalized by the end of the year, Budgett said. The program involves a "full menu" of tests, including the "long-term metabolite" method that widens the window so steroids can be detected several months -- rather than days -- after they were taken. The urine and blood samples are being reanalyzed at the anti-doping lab in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IOC has budgeted half a million dollars for the tests -- "the whole package of intelligence, doing the reanalysis and follow up of any samples," Budgett said. Any positive findings would lead to retroactive disqualification and loss of medals. Chris Lindstrom Youth Jersey. The testing is focused on athletes, especially medallists , who would have been most likely to dope. "We spent a lot of time gathering intelligence on the sports at risk, the countries at risk, on the individuals and coaches and the groups of athletes at risk," Budgett said. "The reanalysis is absolutely as targeted as possible." The IOC worked with the UK Anti-Doping agency on the intelligence gathering. "Were more interested in medal winners than other people, but were also looking at patterns of previous positive tests," Budgett said. "Weve had 7-8 years of looking at the patterns of subsequent positive tests so you can see where there might be a risk. "There are well-known events like biathlon and cross-country skiing where there is a long history of abuse of EPO and other substances, and some sports such as curling where theres no history of abuse at all." In 2010, the IOC retested some Turin samples for insulin and blood-booster CERA but all came back negative. Those samples are now destroyed, so the latest tests are on different samples. Only one positive case was recorded during the Turin Games, with Russian biathlete Olga Pyleva stripped of a silver medal after testing positive for a banned stimulant. Last year, the IOC retested samples from the 2004 Athens Olympics and caught five athletes who were retroactively stripped of medals for using steroids, including mens shot put winner Yuriy Bilonog of Ukraine. Previously, retests of samples from the 2008 Beijing Olympics led to five positive cases for CERA -- with Bahrain runner Rashid Ramzi stripped of gold in the 1,500 metres. Budgett said the new steroid test -- as well as any other improved techniques -- will be used to retest more Beijing samples before the eight-year statute expires in 2016. The latest steroid test was developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency lab in Cologne, Germany. ------ ' ' '

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Portugal and Nigeria won their final Group B matches to reach the last 16 of the Under-20 World Cup on Thursday, while third-place South Korea still has a chance of advancing. Thomas Chabot Senators Jersey . Spain and France had already advanced from Group A, and Spain won the group with a 2-1 win over the French. Captain Paco Alcacer and Jese scored before substitute Thibaut Vion found the net for France in injury time. The United States, which hasnt reached the knockout stages since 2007, finished last in the group after a 4-1 defeat by Ghana. Portugal striker Bruma scored his fourth and fifth goals of the event to help the two-time champions beat Cuba 5-0 and top the group, while Nigeria defeated South Korea 1-0 after an early goal by Olarenwaju Kayode and overtook the Asians for second place. Ricardo, Aladje and To Ze also found the net for Portugal, while Bruma almost added a sixth but hit the crossbar. It was Portugals biggest ever win in the competition, improving on 3-0 defeats of Argentina in 1991 and the Netherlands four years later. Portugal won the title in 1989 and 91 and finished runner-up to Brazil two years ago. Cuba, which lost all three games and became the first team to be eliminated, was making its debut appearance. Nigeria secured its victory after Kayode was left unmarked by the South Korean defence and headed home a free kick by captain Abdul Ajagun in the ninth minute. South Korea still has a chance to advance as one of the best four third-place teams. Ghana had more possession in the opening half hour but the U.S. was still able to create three scoring chances. However, a header and later a shot by Mario Rodriguez both lacked power, and a powerful 20-meter (yard) effort by Jose Villarreal brought a diving save from goalkeeper Eric Antwi. U.S. keeper Cody Cropper reacted quickly while lying on the ground to save a shot from six meters by Lawrence Lartey In the 35th minute. But Cropper had no chance shortly afterward, when several American defenders failed to clear the ball from the area and Frank Acheampong fired home a low shot. Another piece of weak defending allowed the unmarked Ebenezer Assifuah to curl the ball past Cropper in the 58th the minute. Shane ONeill pulled a goal back for the Americans from Oscar Sortos cross in the 69th, the U.S. wasnt able to stage a comeback. Assifuah scored his second of the game nine minutes later and Kennedy Ashia added Ghanas in the 83rd. It was the first defeat for the U.S. team against an African opponent since losing 2-0 to Egypt in 2001. The U.S. qualified for Turkey after finishing runner-up to Mexico in the CONCACAF Under-20 championship earlier this year. But it was drawn into what is widely regarded as the toughest group with two European powerhouses and Ghana, which won the title in 2009 and has never failed to qualify for the knockout stage in its five previous appearances. Mikkel Boedker Jersey . PAUL, Minn. Colin White Senators Jersey . -- Marty Havlat scored three goals for the first time in nearly nine years, and the San Jose Sharks prevented Colorado from clinching the Central Division title with a 5-1 victory over the Avalanche on Friday night. http://www.senatorssale.com/authentic-daniel-alfredsson-senators-jersey/ . Stepanek gave the Czech Republic its second straight Davis Cup title Sunday, sweeping past Dusan Lajovic in straight sets in the fifth and decisive match to secure a 3-2 win over Serbia in the final.TORONTO - Toronto FC went 1-2-2 during an injury-plagued Florida training camp, coming home to a frozen tundra. Star striker Jermain Defoe has yet to touch down and fellow marquee signings Michael Bradley and Gilberto have been hampered by injury. Goalie Julio Cesar is on international duty with Brazil in South Africa and backup forward Bright Dike is already probably out for the season after tendon surgery. Manager Ryan Nelsen has been down three fullbacks and three strikers. Minor niggles have turned into more bothersome setbacks. Its meant extra minutes for some players and new positions for others. For an MLS franchise that has gone all-in on the transfer market in a bid to finally make the playoffs after seven seasons of failure and a woeful 51-105-66 record, there is still much work to do. The good news is Toronto has a bye this weekend when 16 clubs kick off the 2014 season. Toronto opens March 15 in Seattle. "We planned that brilliantly," Nelsen said dryly after practice Tuesday under the bubble at the teams well-appointed north Toronto training ground. Nelsen, in his second year at the helm, has managed to find some positives in the rocky pre-season. "It did expose our weaknesses," he said. "You always get exposed at some part of the season, whether its injuries or suspensions or international call-ups or something like that." "We know what we have, we know what we need to be and where we need to get to," he added. "Its good to know now rather than a quarter or halfway through the season. "Well be a different animal come the 15th but in the back of my mind, its a nice thing to know moving forward." Depth is an issue. Toronto can field an impressive starting 11 but pre-season has already shown that the wrong combination of injuries at the wrong position can cause havoc. The team remains very much a work in progress. Even MLSsoccer.com, which ranked TFC 17th out of 19 teams in its weekly "power rankings," has Toronto 14th in its pre-season lisst. Bobby Ryan Jersey. "Were not all aboard the bandwagon just yet," said the website. Nelsen, whose team went 6-17-11 last season, says he doesnt concern himself with "outside voices." But the former New Zealand international knows that whipping up a gourmet meal is more than just buying the right ingredients. "Just because you make some changes, its not like a light switch. It does take time," he said. "Thats the beauty of sport. "But in saying that we fully expect to get where we want to be. And if you think the expectations are high outside, theyre probably higher inside. But we know its hard and we know its a journey to get to." The pre-season injury list has included forwards Gilberto (quadricep) and Dike (tendon), midfielders Jonathan Osorio (flu) and Daniel Lovitz (knee) and fullbacks Mark Bloom (quadricep), Bradley Orr (calf) and Justin Morrow (hip). Bradley, who withdrew from the U.S squad to face Ukraine in Cyprus, is nursing a minor foot issue. More worrying for Nelsen is the fact that the injuries to Bloom and Orr started as minor issues but got worse. "Well definitely be addressing it," Nelsen said. "You always get niggles and you always get injuries but theyre re-injuries. When you re-do an injury, its major cause for concern." Nelsen expects everyone to be ready for the season. Defoe, the former Tottenham star, is expected to join the team after Wednesdays England friendly against Denmark. "As soon as he plays the game for England, hell be on a plane over," said Nelsen. Still, that means a longer road for team chemistry. Although, unlike past off-seasons, Torontos transaction list has been relatively short and very select. Bradley, Defoe, Gilberto, Cesar, Morrow, Jackson, Orr, and veteran midfielder Dwayne De Rosario are all targeted as starters. The injuries at fullback have meant rookie centre back Nick Hagglund has been shifted to an emergency right back. "Couldnt be more happy with Nick," said Nelsen. ' ' '

LOS ANGELES -- Mike Brown had no interest in rehashing his past with the Los Angeles Lakers -- not right now, not with his new team struggling. Jaire Alexander Jersey . Hes much more intrigued by the possibilities in the Cleveland Cavaliers future after a breakout game by their newest acquisition. Luol Deng hit five 3-pointers while scoring 27 points, Anderson Varejao added 18 points and 18 rebounds, and the Cavaliers beat the spiraling Lakers 120-118 Tuesday night. Dion Waiters scored 13 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Cavaliers improved to 4-16 on the road. They also won for Brown in his return to Staples Center to face the Lakers, who fired him early last season before descending into the mess of a team that couldnt keep up with Cleveland down the stretch. "I dont care where I am, I really want wins," Brown said. "If we win, I can take some satisfaction from it, but theres a lot of learning we can do from this game, too." Jodie Meeks hit six 3-pointers while scoring a season-high 26 points in injury-plagued Los Angeles fifth straight defeat. Nick Young scored 28 points, but the Lakers have lost 11 of 12 heading into a punishing seven-game road trip starting Wednesday in Phoenix. "This is hard," said Young, who missed a potential tying 3-pointer with 10 seconds left. "Were losing, and were losing players daily. Its frustrating, but weve still got to get up and play basketball. Nobody wants to get embarrassed. Youve got to still take pride in that Lakers uniform." Brown coached just 71 games with the Lakers, who hired him to succeed 11-time NBA champion Phil Jackson in 2011 and then pulled the plug on his tenure five games into last season. Brown expressed no hard feelings or regret about his brief tenure with the Lakers, saying hes still on good terms with Kobe Bryant and other Los Angeles players. Deng had five rebounds and four assists his first big game since joining Cleveland in a trade with Chicago a week ago. He was the centerpiece of the highest-scoring regulation performance of the season by the Cavs, who hit 13 of 17 3-pointers and outrebounded Los Angeles 48-35 to earn their second win in three stops on a five-game trip. "Theres a lot more optimism and a lot more talent now that Luol has been added to the mix," said Kyrie Irving, who had 13 points. "Hes a great addition, and to get him on this road trip was big for us." Deng and Waiters put the Cavs ahead during a 12-0 rally early in the fourth quarter, but Young hit three free throws with 25.3 seconds to play, trimming the lead to two points. Tristan Thompson missed two of four free throws in the final 16 seconds, but Young missed two late 3-pointers. "We talked at halftime about coming out with a lot of energy, and I thought we responded well," Deng said. "Once we got the lead, they tried to get back in the game, and it was back and forth. But I thought we did a good job of keeping the lead and controlling the game at the end." Pau Gasol had 20 points and 12 rebounds in the Lakers only home game in a 22-day span. Los Angeles will be away for the next two weeks while the Grammys take over Staples Center. Kendall Marshall had 10 points and 16 assists for Los Angeles, which had just nine players in uniform. Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Xavier Henry are all out with long-term injuries, and Gasol only determined he could play on his injured big toe after pregame warmups. "It wasnt like our energy and focus werent there," Gasol said. "We hung in there, but we couldnt pull it off. ... The defence needs to improve drastically, thats for sure. Whatever it takes to secure those boards, we need to be there." NOTES: Henry wont return from the bone bruise in his right knee for at least another week, but hes likely to be the first injured player back for Los Angeles. ... Nash wont travel on the Lakers upcoming road trip, instead heading back to Vancouver for rehab on his assorted injuries. The two-time MVP hasnt played since Nov. 10. ... (SportsNetwork. Wholesale Jerseys Online .com) - The playoff-hopeful Winnipeg Jets desperately need a win to aid their fragile postseason chances and they hope to get that victory on Friday when the struggling New York Rangers visit the MTS Centre. Tune into the game live on TSN Jets and TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg at 6:30pm ct.Paul Maurices club is in the midst of a five-game slide, and although the Jets have managed to earn three points during the skid theyll need to start rattling off some wins to make the playoffs. Winnipeg is five points out of a playoff spot in the West with 15 games left on its schedule. The Jets havent made the postseason since relocating from Atlanta to Winnipeg prior to the 2011-12 campaign. The former Thrashers, meanwhile, only made the playoffs once during 11 frustrating seasons in Atlanta. The Jets fell to 0-3-2 on their current funk after Wednesdays 3-2 shootout loss against visiting Vancouver. Chris Higgins scored the game winner in the third round of the shootout, as the Canucks halted a seven-game road skid to down Winnipeg in the opener of a three-game homestand. Winnipeg held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the game, but couldnt close out the win in regulation. Then, after the first five shooters came up empty, Higgins charged in down the middle and made a number of quick dekes before stuffing a forehand past Ondrej Pavelecs outstretched right pad for the victory. Andrew Ladd and Michael Frolik each lit the lamp for Winnipeg, while Pavelec posted 31 saves in the setback. "Its a loss because of the shootout," Maurice said. "Its a 2-2 game in terms of how it was played and I think thats a pretty accurate assessment of how the game went." The Jets went 7-2-0 in the first nine games under Maurice, who replaced a fired Claude Noel in January. Winnipeg, however, is just 4-3-4 under Maurice since the coachs early success. Winnipeg earned a win over the Rangers on Dec. 2, notching a 5-2 road victory at Madison Square Garden. Ex-Ranger Olli Jokinen had two goals and an assist to lead the offense and Pavelec made 35 saves for the win. The Jets have won three of the last four meetings versus New York, but the Rangers have claimed two of the three encounters at the MTS Centre since the franchise relocated. New York has lost two straight to begin a three-game road trip and Alain Vigneaults club is just 2-4-1 in March. With 74 points, the Rangers are tied with Columbus for second place in the Metropolitan Division. but they are only one ahead of Philadelphia, which currently holds the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. After losing 3-1 at Carolina on Tuesday, the Blueshirts dropped a 2-1 decision Thursday night at Minnesota. Zach Parises goal 1:03 into the third period provided the difference in the Wilds 2-1 victory at XCel Energy Center. Cam Talbot turned aside 24 shots in the loss, with Derek Stepan recording the lone New York goal. "Were not scoring a lot of goals 5-on-5," said Vigneault. "I thought our effort was better tonight, our execution was a little bit better, but we need to finish more and obviously that wasnt the case tonight." Martin St. Louis is one of the many Rangers struggling to find the net at the moment. St. Louis has no goals and one assist in five games since coming to New York in the blockbuster trade that sent former Rangers captain Ryan Callahan to Tampa Bay. St. Louis has excellent career numbers against the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise, posting 27 goals and 55 assists over 74 career games. Despite dropping the first two tilts on its current trek, New York still has a solid 19-13-0 road record this season. The Blueshirts will return home to host San Jose on Sunday, but then will head back out on another three-game swing. Cheap Jerseys For Sale . Colon combined with two relievers on an eight-hitter, Ruben Tejada drove in two runs with two hits and the New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 4-0 on Tuesday night. Valverde loaded the basses in the ninth before Jason Heyward flied to the warning track in centre field to end it. Colon, 40, gave up six hits and no walks, struck out five and didnt allow more than one baserunner in any inning until the seventh as he outpitched Atlantas Aaron Harang (1-1). Travis dArnaud said catching Colon (1-1) is "a lot of fun." "He commands all his pitches," dArnaud said. "What else could you ask for from a pitcher?" Tejada scored on a wild pitch by Harang in the third and had run-scoring singles in the seventh and eighth innings. The Braves honoured the 40th anniversary of Hank Aarons 715th homer in a pregame ceremony attended by baseball commissioner Bud Selig. Al Downing, the former Dodgers left-hander who gave up the homer, attended the ceremony and threw out the first pitch. There was little left to get excited about for the home crowd until the ninth. Justin Upton and Dan Uggla had back-to-back singles off Valverde. Evan Gattis, who returned after missing two games -- and losing seven pounds -- because of a stomach virus, hit a fielders choice grounder that forced Upton at third. Valverde then fielded Andrelton Simmons grounder, turned and threw wide of second base for an error, leaving the bases loaded. Pinch-hitter Gerald Laird popped out to second base and Lagares caught Heywards shot to end the game. "I knew I just missed it," Heyward said. "Id like to be in that spot every time. Id like to come through." Heyward, who was 0-for-5, is hitting .107. Mets manager Terry Collins said the Braves had aggressive swings in the ninth because Valverde was throwing strikes. "The ninth inning is a tough inning," Collins said. "t;Youve got a club like the Braves who swing the bats and this guy attacks the strike zone. NFL Jerseys From China. Theyre gonna get some hits. When he starts missing is when he gets in trouble. When he throws strikes he gets outs because youve got to swing." Valverde moved into the closers role as the replacement for Bobby Parnell, who had season-ending Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. Harang was hurt by control problems in an otherwise strong outing. He allowed only two hits with nine strikeouts in six innings, but he gave up four walks, including two in the third. Tejada led off with a walk and eventually scored on Harangs wild pitch to David Wright. "I tried to put him away, a 2-2 count, I threw a slider in the dirt," Harang said. "It took an awkward bounce, got away from Evan. "Other than that I felt good. I kept them off-balance. We just werent able to work anything up on Colon tonight." The Mets added two runs off Braves rookie Gus Schlosser in the seventh. Tejada and Young had run-scoring singles. Braves left-hander Luis Avilan left the game in the seventh with a left hamstring cramp after he dodged Daniel Murphys broken-bat on a single. Avilan was limping and was unable to make a warm-up throw but said after the game he did not expect to miss any time. Collins asked for a review when Juan Lagares was called out at first base on a grounder to reliever Ian Thomas in the eighth. Following a 3-minute review, Lagares was ruled safe. NOTES: Braves RHP Cory Gearrin confirmed he will have season-ending Tommy John surgery. The Braves previously lost starting pitchers Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy to season-ending elbow injuries this spring. ... RHP Ervin Santana will make his first start for the Braves on Wednesday after signing with the team on March 12. RHP Zack Wheeler will start for the Mets. ... The Mets said Parnells right elbow ligament-replacement surgery, performed by Dr. David Altchek, was successful. The team announced plans for the surgery on Sunday. ' ' '

Ross, who plays out of the Glenmore Curling Club in Dollard-des-Ormeaux -- just west of Montreal -- beat Kim Mastine of Sherbrooke 7-4 in the championship game. With the win, Ross, third Melissa Gannon, second Brittany ORourke and lead Pamela Nugent will wear Quebecs colours at the Tournament of Hearts when the Canadian womens curling championship gets underway on Feb. 1. It will be Rosss fourth trip to the Scotties; she also represented Ontario in 1999, playing lead for Kim Gellard, and played third for Brenda Nicholls in 2005. Last year, she skipped a slightly different Quebec team -- Gannon and Nugent are new to the team -- to a 3-8 record in Kingston, Ont. RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Twice now, Belgium has relied on a late revival boosted by stamina and its bench to turn desperate situations around at the World Cup. On Sunday, it was teenager Divock Origi who turned a listless Belgian performance into a late 1-0 win over Russia, enough to qualify for the next round. Belgium barely contained a reinvigorated Russia for most of the match, yet struck with a blistering late spurt of class and opportunism to turn a bad situation into a wild, fist-pumping celebration for coach Marc Wilmots and his team in the 88th minute. "Why were we good in last 10 minutes? Simple, the others were tired," said Wilmots. "The Russians were so tired they looked at their feet, and it offered us chances to counter." After its dour 1-1 draw with South Korea, Russia produced the kind of sparkle and dominance that most had been expected more from Belgium in front of 73,819 increasingly restless fans at Maracana stadium. With Belgian King Philippe looking on, substitute Kevin Mirallas hit a freekick against the post in 84th minute, setting off the amazing turnaround. At first it appeared as if late flashes from Eden Hazard would only camouflage a dismal performance. But then the playmaker made a move into the area on the left and spotted Origi free in the centre. A pinpoint pass from Hazard and cool right-foot finishing from the 19-year-old Origi gave Belgium the victory. "Nobody could have thought this possible," said Origi, who was only called into the squad because No. 1 striker Christian Benteke injured his Achilles in April. Most of Belgium barely knew of the talented young player developing quickly for Lille in the French league. Belgium didnt play with any real authority for most of the game on a bright, sunny afternoon in Rio, confounding predictions that it should be one of the teams to watch at the World Cup. Instead, it was Russsia applied most pressure in the second half and was let down by its blunt finishing touch. Bill Barber Flyers Jersey. That helped give Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois his 100th professional clean sheet at age 22. "We got the last pass wrong, or shot too quickly," Russia coach Fabio Capello said. "The result was unfair, but the fact is we lost." Belgium moved to six points with the win, five ahead of Russia and South Korea -- the Koreans were playing Algeria later Sunday. "Now we will build a party, but then it is back to work as of tomorrow," Wilmots said. Belgium could be considered lucky to go to halftime at 0-0, escaping a penalty in the 26th minute when German referee waved on play after defender Toby Alderweireld was late with a challenge on Maksim Kanunnikov in the area. While most critics had been expecting a defence-oriented Russia against Belgium, Capello decided otherwise and the addition of 22-year-old Maksim Kanunnikov gave some zip to the team that it so badly lacked against South Korea. Wilmots promoted his two substitute goalscorers from the 2-1 win over Algeria to the starting lineup and while Dries Mertens thrived on the right wing, Marouane Fellaini was sloppy and ineffectual in the centre of midfield. Once Russias central defence of Sergey Ignashevich and Vasily Berezutskiy worked out how to control the Belgian passing combinations, momentum changed. And after the early massive cheers for Belgium from the crowd, shouts of "Ro-ssi-ya, Ro-ssi-ya," took over. Belgium captain Vincent Kompany recovered from a groin strain to play a polished first half, but the surprise call-up of defender Thomas Vermaelen to start the game backfired and forced a first-half change. The Arsenal defender injured his knee in the warmup and lasted only 31 minutes before limping off. "That was my only big setback today," Wilmots said. ' ' '

Each day, TSN.ca provides the latest rumours, reports and speculation from around the NFL beat. Given His Shot After a strong showing in the teams scrimmage on Saturday, Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel opened practice with the Browns first-team offence on Monday. Manziel electrified the crowd in Akron, Ohio on Saturday while reportedly outperforming incumbent Brian Hoyer. On his first play on Monday, Manziel connected with Travis Benjamin on a 40-yard pass, which Benjamin retreated to catch due to being underthrown. Manziels next pass was tipped and intercepted by safety Donte Whitner. This is the first known involvement for Manziel with the first-team offence in training camp. Out of the Woods? Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel called the decision to give second-year receiver Robert Woods no snaps with the first team offence in Sundays Hall of Fame game, "a bit surprising." Woods is coming off a productive rookie season where he caught 40 passes for 587 yards and three touchdowns. He caught four balls for 49 yards and a touchdown working with quarterbacks Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis on Sunday night. "A little bit (surprised) for Woody not to be in with us with the ones. A bit surprising," Manuel said told ESPN.com. "But he did great. He did great. Woodys going to be Woody with whatever hes given. So I was still glad to see him go out there and do a great job." The first-team offence featured Mike Williams and rookie first-roundd pick Sammy Watkins on the outside with Chris Hogan taking snaps in the slot position. Chris Conley Youth Jersey. Woods said after the game he was given no reason for being left off the field from the first-team offence, but that would produce with whoever played with. "It is what it is," the 2013 second-round pick said. "I just come out here and make plays whenever Im in on the field." Wounded Eagle Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper suffered a foot injury over the weekend and is in a walking boot. Cooper is expected to return to practice later this week and though his status for the Eagles first preseason game is in jeopardy, Cooper should be fully healthy for the regular season. The 26-year-old (who will be 27 in September) signed a five-year contract extension following his strong 2013 season. Cooper caught 47 passes for 835 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Cooper faces competition for his starting position from rookie Jordan Matthews in the spot opposite Jeremy Maclin. Struggling Shaq The New York Daily News reports Jets fourth-round pick receiver Shaq Evans has struggled with drops throughout training camp. Evans, one of two wide receivers drafted in the fourth-round this year by the Jets, is not listed amongst the top-six receivers on the Jets current depth chart. Evans struggles continue a disappointing trend for the Jets, as second-round selection tight end Jace Amaro is reportedly also struggling in camp. Due to their draft position, however, both players should make the teams 53-man roster for the regular season. The Daily News described the entire Jets draft class as looking "green." ' ' '

Drew MacIntyre doesnt know why at the age of 30 he hasnt started an NHL game. Blank Juventus Jersey . The journeyman goaltender can only go by what hes told. "Probably the main reason why I havent gotten a game while Ive been up is because I dont have NHL experience," MacIntyre said. "Thats the most frustrating thing." Listen to all the action on TSN Radio 1050 starting at 7:30pm et. Its hard to have experience without someone giving him a chance. "Chicken and egg thing," said his agent, Thane Campbell. "You have to get that right opportunity. Some of it is just luck -- being at the right place at the right time." MacIntyre is now in exactly the right place at the right time. With the Toronto Maple Leafs officially eliminated from playoff contention and Jonathan Bernier out with a knee injury, the Charlottetown product is set to make his first career NHL start Thursday night at the Florida Panthers. Its a long time coming for a veteran of 351 AHL games, 56 ECHL games and even two in the KHL. Along the way, he has seen Cory Schneider, Ben Scrivens and other goaltenders he competed against in the minors earn full-time NHL gigs. "It literally feels like every day I see one of the guys that Ive competed against for a while getting starts and becoming a No. 1 goalie in the NHL," MacIntyre said last month. "So that kind of thing can get frustrating because Ive competed pretty well against all those guys. Thats just more evidence that I believe that I can play here (in the NHL)." MacIntyres resume so far includes just five NHL appearances, all in relief. Two came for the Vancouver Canucks in 2007-08, two for the Buffalo Sabres in 2011-12, and the most recent one in March after James Reimer gave up three goals at the New Jersey Devils. On March 23, MacIntyre came in and stopped all 14 shots he faced. He saw that as something of an audition, which Thursday night can be, as well. "That enters your mind," he said. "I havent had that many opportunities. Theyve all been kind of getting thrown in there. ... Thats just the position that Im in where every summer Im hoping to get a job and scrambling to find something. I want to get a chance to compete for a backup role just to see what I can do." MacIntyre will likely be scrambling again this summer. The AHLs Toronto Marlies could go with a young goaltending duo of Garret Sparks and Christopher Gibson, leaving the career minor-leaguer to look elsewhere. Campbells sales pitch is that MacIntyre is a two-time AHL all-star, people know him around the league and hes "not too old." He said MacIntyre is considered one of the best No. 3 goalie options around, but where he might end up next season depends on trades and other player movement. If nothing else, MacIntyre shouldnt have to face the same questions he did last year after breaking his ankle playing for HC Lev Prague of the KHL, getting released and struggling to find a job anywhere. For a while, no team in the ECHL or Central Hockey League would sign him. While practising with the University of Prince Edward Island, MacIntyre was asked by people close to him if he was considering retiring. "It kind of made me say, Jeepers, should I be thinking that?" MacIntyre said. "It definitely crossed my mind, but I didnt think about retiring. I just knew I was up for a fight." Itll likely be a fight to get an NHL deal that gives him a legitimate opportunity to compete for a backup job. After trips through three organizations, thats what MacIntyre expects. "With a number of teams hes been knocking on the door and hes been very close," said Campbell, who has represented MacIntyre since he was 16 years old. "But its tough to get into the NHL, its a tough league to play in. Its the best league in the world. But hes only 30 and theres time left, thats for sure." The goaltender who gives MacIntyre inspiration is Tim Thomas, who didnt make his first career NHL start until the age of 28 and didnt get a real chance until after a sojourn to Europe showed what kind of performer he could become. Family members and friends always bring up Thomas, now a Conn Smythe Trophy and Stanley Cup-winner, to give MacIntyre hope. And he buys into that belief. "He did it. I dont see why I couldnt do it," MacIntyre said. "Im not saying Im going to be Tim Thomas if I get a chance, but I like to think I can compete well up here." Blank Jersey . Patric Hornqvist scored with the man-advantage at 13:56 of the third period to lift the Predators to a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night. Matt Cullen and Roman Josi also scored power-play goals to help Nashville snap a three-game losing streak. The three man-advantage goals were a season high for the Predators. Nashville entered Thursday with the NHLs seventh-best power play. "The power play was really huge, but our 5-on-5 play was strong," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "We gave up seven shots in the last two periods and that includes a couple of power plays that they had." Martin St. Louis had both goals for the Lightning, losers of three of their last four. With time winding down in the final period, Hornqvist collected the rebound of Mike Fishers shot and slipped it by Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop. "It hit the heel of my stick, and then I dont know if I got a whack on it on the rebound, too," Hornqvist said. "Its nice to see that it finally went in. Thats how I have to play every single night to be effective." St. Louis opened the scoring at 5:26 of the first period. Ondrej Palat carried the puck from the left boards into the slot, where he sent a backhand off the left post. St. Louis was parked in front of the Nashville goal to tap home the rebound. Less than four minutes later, St. Louis struck again. With the Lightning on a power play, St. Louis wrist shot from the right faceoff dot hit Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton in the chest, fell to the ice, and tricklled across the goal line. Juan Cuadrado Juventus Jersey. . Hutton is 7-2-2 in his last 11 games. Since scoring a career-best four times in Tampa Bays Jan. 18 game against San Jose, St. Louis had not scored a goal, a stretch of nine games. He also was pointless in five games for Team Canada in their gold medal-winning performance at the Sochi Olympic Games. "Our 5-on-5 play was horrendous," St. Louis said. "Our battle level was very low. Youve got to grind it out in this league, and we didnt do that." After getting nine shots on goal in the first, Tampa Bay managed just four in the second and three in the third. "It was disgracefully embarrassing, thats what that game was," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Two periods, really, really disappointed. Seven shots in the last two periods?" Cullen struck at 12:05 of the second. Ryan Ellis skated the puck into the right circle, where he faked a shot and found Cullen at the back door for an easy tap-in. Josi tied the game 1:11 later on another power-play goal when the Swiss Olympian ripped a slap shot from the left faceoff dot over Bishops left shoulder. "The first period, we didnt manage the puck that well," Josi said. "We actually didnt play a bad period in the first, but they got up 2-0. After that, we just worked their defence and our forwards did a great job down low." NOTES: Palat has points in three-straight games. ... Cullen had not scored a goal since Nov. 27, breaking a stretch of 29 games without a goal. ... Nashville is 7-21-5 when its opponents score first. . The game was the first of five consecutive home games for Nashville coming out of the Olympic break. ' ' '

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins have two chances to finish off the archrival Canadiens. Tom Kuhnhackl Islanders Jersey . They are only thinking about the first one. "Its going to be awesome," Bruins defenceman Kevan Miller said, looking ahead to Game 6 in Montreal on Monday night. "This is the biggest game --the hardest one to win. So, we need to be ready." The Bruins won 4-2 in Game 5 on Saturday night to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series and send the Canadiens to the brink of elimination. Game 6 is Monday at the raucous Bell Centre, with Game 7 back in Boston on Wednesday night, if necessary. "We expect that we are going to have to play our best game yet," Bruins forward Jarome Iginla said. "We know that they are going to try to use their crowd, and we are most likely going to need our best game of the series." The Canadiens swept through the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round and won the first game of the Eastern Conference semifinals in Boston. But since then, the Bruins have regained the form that took them to the Stanley Cup finals twice in three seasons. The Bruins took a 1-0 victory on Matt Frasers overtime goal in Game 4, then came home to speed out to a 3-0 lead. Reilly Smith and Iginla scored power-play goals 32 seconds apart early in the second period to help Boston pull away. "They capitalized on a couple opportunities right at the start of the second period, and that was a tough hole to dig out of," Montreal goalie Carey Price said. "Were going to stay positive. The series is not over yet. Were going home, and were going to bring our absolute best." The Canadiens were in the same position in the first round against Boston in 2011, winning Game 6 at home before losing the seventh game in overtime. The Bruins went on to win the Stanley Cup. "Some of our guys have done this before," centre David Desharnais said. "Were in front of our fans and we like the way we play at home." Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban said he thinks his team can do it. "We have enough here. We just have to bring it facing elimination," he said. "I still think that we are in a good spot. We are going back home. Thats the barn, its going to be loud. Its going to be full of energy. We are going to be ready to play, thats for sure." Subban has been at the centre of much of the action so far in the series. He scored the winning goal in Game 1 and has four goals and three assists, and on Saturday night he was the victim of an odd controversy. Bruins forward Shawn Thornton was caught by the TV cameras in the final minute spraying water from the bench at Subban, who had the puck. Thornton was fined $2,820.52 by the league on Sunday -- the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement. Bruins coach Claude Julien said he did not approve of Thorntons behaviour and let him know. Thornton said he got caught up in the moment. Subban also said he would like to move on. "I dont need you guys to make it a big deal out of it," he told reporters after the game. "It is one of those irritating things when youre down 4-2. Listen, they beat us. Thats not the reason why we lost. Its just one of those things that frustrates you even more towards the end of the game." Brock Nelson Islanders Jersey . Celtic are holding interviews as they seek to find a replacement for Ronny Deila, who departed Glasgow on Monday having won two Scottish Premiership titles in as many years as manager.Sky Sports understands both Rodgers and former Watford and Cardiff boss Malky Mackay have already held talks with Celtic, while several others continue to be linked with the vacancy. Rodgers has been out of work since last October when he was replaced by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Former Liverpool boss Rodgers has been linked with the Celtic job But Lambert reckons Rodgers would have a similar impact to Neil Lennon and Martin ONeill, who delivered three titles each during their spells in charge of the Hoops.I think so. It will be totally different from Liverpool if Brendan got it. I dont think, because Liverpool is a massive club, you cant go to Celtic and think, well its an inferior club. Its not, Lambert told Sky Sports News HQ. Lambert won the league title four times as a Celtic player Celtics a huge football club. Even in my own time when Martin ONeill came in, I said at the time we needed a manager like him because of the demands of the club.It needed a strong personality to take the job on, and Martin was absolutely fantastic to play under. And I think if you asked any of us at that time, it was a fantastic five years under him, but we needed a manager to pull the club up. He handled the whole size of it, handled the fanbase, and got really good players in to help. Celtic want Rodgers as their next manager, according to Sky sources Could Brendan go in and do it? I think he could, but there will be a lot of hurdles hell need to get over to meet the demands of it. Nick Leddy Islanders Jersey. He knows the club. I think Celtic is still a massive club to take on.When asked what will be required from Rodgers should he be appointed, the 46-year-old insisted expectation will be high.I think what hell need to do is grasp you are either first or last, there is no in-between, there is no second place, theres no nothing, you have to win the title, Lambert said.It doesnt matter who comes, the supporters will still expect you to win because the weight of the jersey carries a lot for the players on it, and you have to get that in your head that you are going to have to win more games than not. Martin ONeill (left) and Neil Lennon were both successful Celtic managers Lambert, who won the league four times, the Scottish Cup on three occasions, and twice picked up the League Cup in eight glittering years with the Hoops, recently left his position as manager of Blackburn. The ex-Norwich and Aston Villa manager decided to activate a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave Ewood Park six months into a two-and-a-half year deal. While Lambert concedes he will be looking for a new position, he says there has been no approach from Celtic to offer an interview.First and foremost, you have got to be asked to go and do a job. Celtic, as Ive said before is a brilliant club, a club really close to me. I had a great eight years there. Its a really fantastic place, Lambert said. But you have to be asked. Youve got to be good enough to go and do it and that will be Celtics prerogative to pick the right guy. Hopefully, whoever goes in there, gives the club success, because its a brilliant club.Im unemployed at the minute, so I actually need to look for something. Thats probably my best answer. A good way to describe Morgan Riellys season would be a gradual build. Jurrell Casey Titans Jersey . It started in training camp when there were questions about whether Rielly would crack the Leafs opening day roster or be returned to the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL. While he broke camp with the Leafs, Rielly had to wait until the teams third game of the season to see action. Then he played his tenth regular season game on October 26th against the Pittsburgh Penguins, meaning the first year of his three year entry level contract had kicked in. On January 15th against the Buffalo Sabres, another threshold reached as Rielly played his 40th game, meaning this season would count as a full season of service toward the seven required for unrestricted free agency. All the while through the first two months Rielly fought to claim an everyday spot in Torontos top three defence pairings, forced out of the line up on nine different occasions as a healthy scratch. But that appears to be a thing of the past now too; Rielly has not watched from the press box since December 8th against Boston. “Obviously he feels a lot more comfortable,” said Randy Carlyle, before the team departed for Florida on Monday afternoon. “Were starting to see the true Morgan Rielly. I think like any young player, theyre conservative in the early going; they dont want to make any mistakes.” Now a fixture among the Leafs top six defencemen and also seeing time on a second power play pairing with Jake Gardiner, Rielly is beginning to emerge in the form of a confident puck carrier. “I think over the course of the year so far, Ive been able to gain some confidence and Ive really got pretty comfortable jumping up in the play and trying to carry the puck a bit more,” said Rielly. Now with points in six of his last nine games (1-5), Rielly has moved into third among Leafs defensemen in scoring. Paired with Tim Gleason since midway through last Thursdays game against the Florida Panthers, the veteran defenseman has been impressed with the 19-year-olds poise with the puck. “I notice how well he skates with the puck and how confident he looks skating with the puck,” said Gleason. “Its something that I wish I had when I was 19, 20 years old. Hes ahead of the game I think at his age, especially as a defenceman.” After playing with Jake Gardiner for a stretch of 10 games, a partnership with Gleason might be just the recipe to free Rielly up to take chances carrying the puck up the ice. “I hope thats the case,” said Gleason. “Hes a puck moving guy who skates well; hes one of those guys who can lead the rush and thats tough to do in this league. He can go whenever he wants and Im more than happy to kind of keep the fort down and do my thing. I think its a good mixture for sure.” The reassurance that Gleason wont stray too far from home has been beneficial for Rielly. “I like playing with Jake but playing with Timmys been great, hes always back there playing good ‘D and that helps me because I like to jump up a little bit.” So far, the feeling has been mutual for Gleason. “I have a good time playing with him,” Gleason explained. “If he has any questions, were different types of players so I dont know if Id have all the answers for him on the offensive side of things but hes grown really well since he started.” As Rielly continues to develop into the player the Leafs hoped they were getting when they drafted him fifth overall in 2012, Randy Carlyle insisted the Leafs will remain cautious in their approach with the young defenseman. “We dont want to get too far ahead of ourselves with any young player, we want to make sure we continue to measure and afford him the ice time that allows him to develop but, again, we dont want to put him in situations that he cant possibly have success in.” Marcus Mariota Jersey . MILWAUKEE -- The fan wanted a hug. Nike Air Force 1 Mid Homme Pas Cher . Derek Jeter just wanted to get out of the way. Jeter calmly eluded a fan that tried to meet him in the sixth inning of the New York Yankees 5-3 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night. Masahiro Tanaka pitched into the seventh and Yangervis Solarte hit a three-run homer for the Yankees, who have won three straight and four of six. It was New Yorks first game in Milwaukee since 2005, and it took a surprising turn when a guy jumped out of the left-field stands and walked briskly toward Jeter at shortstop in the sixth inning. Jeter didnt appear to notice the fan at first. Jeter, who plans to retire after this season, took a few steps away as several security guards rushed in to tackle the person. Jeter said the guy, who was wearing a Ryan Braun jersey and white bandana, didnt appear threatening. "His face was calm," Jeter said. "He was saying he wanted a hug. I was thinking I wasnt going to hug him. That was pretty much it. It happened pretty quick. I didnt even see him until he got past the third-base line." Jeter warned the guy he had made a big mistake. "I told him, Youre going to get in trouble," Jeter said. "Then he repeated that he wanted a hug. I said, Look out." Thats when several security guards flattened the guy and then hauled him away. "If you saw his face, he wasnt coming out there with anger," Jeter said. "So, no, I wasnt scared." But Yankees manager Joe Girardi was worried about Jeter. "I was like, Derek, move," Girardi said. "Derek just kind of stood there. Obviously, he didnt feel threatened. Its not what you want because you never know what people are up to. Its an unfortunate part of the game." Tanaka (5-0) allowed two runs and seven hits in his first interleague game. The Japanese right-hander struck out seven and walked one. Tanaka also struck out in each of his first three major league at-bats. Yovani Gallardo (2-2) matched Tanaka pitch for pitch until New York scored four times in the fourth on four hits, highlighted by Solartes second home run of the season. Carlos Beltran walked and Brian McCann singled before Solarte hit Gallardos first pitch, a cutter, over the right-field wall. "Thats whats frustrating about this game," Gallardo said. "You have to stay away from the big inning." Solarte leads the Yankees with 18 RBIs. He signed a minor league deal in January and then played his way onto the major league club with a strong spring training. "Hes obviously had a great first five or six weeks," Girardi said. "Hes played well and he deserves to be out there." The Yankees tacked on an insurance run in the eighth inning. Beltran hit a leadoff double against Brandon Kintzler, and Ichiro Suzuki then came in to run. Suzuki stole third and scored on Mark Teixeiras roller down the first-base line, making it 5-2. The Brewers got on the board in the sixth. Carlos Gomez and Scooter Gennett started the inning with consecutive doubles, and Jonathan Lucroy followed with an RBI single. Tanaka then got Aramis Ramirez to ground into a double play and struck out Mark Reynolds. Gallardo was impressed with Tanaka. "He kept the ball down in the zone and he was moving the ball around," Gallardo said. "He was pretty good at keeping our guys off balance." Adam Warren took over for Tanaka after he put runners on the corners in the seventh. Warren struck out pinch-hitter Lyle Overbay and Logan Schafer was cut down while trying to steal second. David Robertson allowed Reynolds sixth homer in the ninth, but struck out the side for his sixth save. Milwaukee has lost three straight and seven of nine since getting off to a hot start. The Brewers are playing without Ryan Braun, who has been sidelined by a right oblique strain. WASHINGTON - Just when it appeared that the intensity of a playoff run was getting to be too much for the Washington Wizards, they pull off a solid win over the Indiana Pacers. Marcel Schmelzer Jersey . And the Pacers? They played so poorly that it made this weeks win over the Miami Heat look more like an aberration in some late-season doldrums. John Wall scored 20 points, and Marcin Gortat added 17 points and 12 rebounds Friday night as the Wizards avenged two of their biggest losses of the season, never trailing in a 91-78 win over the cold-shooting, turnover-prone Pacers. "Were at the point where we cant just get up for the Miamis or the Chicago Bulls and then come out and get doughnuts against the Wizards or these other teams," said David West, who committed four of Indianas 17 turnovers. "I just dont know if we are handling success and being out front the right way." The Heat beat the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, essentially negating Indianas victory over Miami on Wednesday in the standings. The Pacers lead is back to two games atop the Eastern Conference. "The game Wednesday doesnt mean anything if we dont get the one tonight, and were back at square one," Pacers guard George Hill said. "We gave up another game where we should have won." The Wizards, meanwhile, sit sixth in the East and are almost certainly playoff-bound for the first time since 2008, but their recent uninspired play had led to questions as to whether young players Wall and Bradley Beal had the mettle for a post-season push. Washington had lost four of five, with games featuring wild swings and deficits too big to make up. "Our intensity level for 48 minutes had waned," coach Randy Wittman said. "And wed lost that edge a little bit, in terms of we waited until we got down before we really played with effort and intensity." Not so Friday night against the Pacers, who are responsible for two of Washingtons three losses by 20-plus points this season. This was one of those prove-yourself wins that counts a little extra. "They had our number the first two games," Beal said. "They played way more physical than we did. They kind of did whatever they wanted to when they were at home, but once we got them here we did a great job of just hitting them — and we kept hitting them throughout the whole game." Paul George scored 19 points, and Lance Stephenson had 13 points and matched a career-high with 14 rebounds for the Pacers, who have lost a season-high four straight road games. Indiana committed five turnovers in the first four minutes Friday and shot 35 per cent overall. By halftime, the Pacers were up to 10 turnovers. No. 11 came on the first possession of the second half, when centre Roy Hibbert threw the ball out of bounds. After scoring in the 70s only once in their first 69 games, the Pacers have held below 80 in three of their last four. "Im tired of talking about it," said Hibbert, who went 3-for-8 from the field and had only two rebounds. "Weve been in this rut for a month. I dont know. Ive made my suggestions. You take one step forward and three steps back. One game, and then we play like this. ... Weve talked about that for great length amongst ourselves, private team meetings, all that (stuff), and I dont know." The Pacers finished 2-for-13 from 3-point range. Stephenson went 3-for-13 and missed all five of his 3-pointers. George was 6-for-22 and was unhappy he didnt get more calls. "Its just crazy," George said. "We played against a team the other night where if you breathe on the guy (LeBron James) you know he went to the line. Im not saying Im that calibre player, but its just frustrating." As poorly as the Pacers played, the Wizards didnt truly pull away until late in the third quarter. Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster hit 3-pointers in a 10-0 run that made the score 77-56 early in the fourth. Ariza finished just 2 for 12 from the field, and Bradley Beal was 2 for 13. "We guarded our butts off," Beal said. "We didnt necessarily shoot it too well, but we definitely defended." NOTES: Beal played 35 minutes despite suffering a hip pointer in Wednesdays loss to the Phoenix Suns. ... Al Harrington accounted for all of the points in a 10-0 run by the Wizards over 2 1/2 minutes in the second quarter. Paco Alcacer Jersey . The Raptors general manager has his list of possible draft selections whittled down to a handful ahead of Thursday nights NBA draft in Brooklyn, New York. The Raptors, who have auditioned dozens of players over the past couple of weeks, have the 20th overall pick in the first round, as well as the 37th and 58th picks in the second. Mahmoud Dahoud Jersey . -- Nick Bjugstad snapped out of his scoring slump and spoiled Drew MacIntyres first NHL start. http://www.footballdortmundpro.com/Kids-Axel-Witsel-Jersey/ .Y. - Brooklyn Nets centre Brook Lopez has a strained lower back and will miss at least a week. NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets acquired guard Marcus Thornton from the Sacramento Kings for Jason Terry and Reggie Evans on Wednesday, removing two little-used veterans from their aging roster and hoping a younger one can rediscover his scoring touch. Terry came from Boston along with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce but has appeared in just 35 games after a knee injury, averaging 4.5 points on 36 per cent shooting. Evans was a favourite of fans but not coach Jason Kidd, who used him in just 30 of their 51 games. Evans made 56 starts last season and led the Nets with 11.1 rebounds per game, but lost his starting spot when the Nets acquired Garnett, and then fell behind rookie Mason Plumlee in Kidds rotation. Thornton averaged 21.3 points in 23 games with the Kings in 2010-11 after being acquired in a midseason trade with New Orleans. He then led the Kings with 18.7 points per game in 2011-12, but had fallen out of favour under defensive-minded coach Michael Malone, even getting benched at one point to make way for rookie Ben McLemore. "Marcus is a proven scorer in this league," Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement. "He is a young talent who will help us in the backcourt." Thornton, now 26 years old, is averaging just 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes per game this season. He has started 26 of 46 games and is shooting 38 per cent from the floor, including 31 per cent from 3-point range. Its the third move for the Kings since the season started as they rebuild under new owner Vivek Ranadive, general manager Pete DAAlessandro and Malone. Marwin Hitz Dortmund Jersey. Sacramento sent Luc Mbah a Moute to Minnesota for Derrick Williams on Nov. 26 and acquired Rudy Gay in a seven-play deal with Toronto on Dec. 9. "Were an unfinished product," DAlessandro said before the Kings hosted Golden State on Wednesday night. "Were just going to continue to try to change and turn it over and try to figure it out until we can get it right. I think change is good when youve lost a lot. You have to change. You always have to change." One of the biggest reasons the Kings made the trade is to give more playing time to McLemore and fellow rookie Ray McCallum. McLemore, the seventh overall pick out of Kansas, made his 27th start Wednesday night. "We have to see these guys play, and not in practice but in NBA games to see what theyre capable of doing so we can make decisions coming in the off-season," Malone said. The Kings, under the former ownership of the Maloof family, signed Thornton to a four-year contract worth about $31 million just before the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season. Thornton is making $8.05 million this season and is due $8.575 million next season. Hell bring some youth to a Nets team that loaded up on veterans in an expensive attempt to make a run at a title this season. But they came out of the All-Star break with a 24-27 record, good for only seventh place in the Eastern Conference. They could still make another move before Thursdays 3 p.m. EST trade deadline, even though they were already slated to pay more than $180 million in salary and taxes this season. ' ' '

One of the best things about the playoffs is the opportunity to have a fresh start for a new season, and a chance to become a difference maker each night. Dallas Mavericks Jerseys . After the fourth line took the headlines following the Canadiens victory in Game 1, it would be the third line, along with goaltending, that would help propel the Habs in Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead with the series heading to Montreal. After a sub-par regular season, which saw a trip to the press box as a healthy scratch, Rene Bourque elevated his game on Friday night with a two-goal contest, including a highlight reel goal which turned out to be the game winner. He led all Montreal players with four shots on goal. Meeting with the media on Saturday, Bourque admitted that the playoffs are providing a fresh start as he wants to atone for the regular season, and now is the best time to make an impact. Coach Michel Therrien also conceded that since his late-March trip to the press box, Bourque has played more physical and shown the kind of game they expect from the forward. The power play also managed its first goal of the year against the Lightning in Game 2, and ended a scoreless run of 27 consecutive attempts without a goal. The Canadiens also showed some of the best puck movement with the man advantage that they have in quite some time. The team has put a lot of focus on the special teams over the last week in practice. The power play goal scored by David Desharnais was his first career playoff goal. Max Pacioretty earned his first power play point with an assist on the play. The line of Thomas Vanek, Desharnais and Pacioretty has combined for two goals, five points and 22 shots over the first two games of the series. Meanwhile, the Bourque, Lars Eller and Brian Gionta trio have put up four goals, seven points and 16 shots. While the Bell Centre will be rocking on Sunday night, the Habs refuse to look too far ahead, knowing all too well that a 2-0 series lead built on the road in 2011 still ended in a Game 7 overtime loss to the Bruins. Montreal had an off-ice workout on Saturday, with no line-up changes expected for Game 3. Masai Ujiri and the Raptors pulled the trigger on a seven-player deal that will send Gay to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for four players, Yahoo Sports first reported Sunday evening. In a deal that could save them as much as $14.5 million next season, the Raptors acquire guards Greivis Vasquez and John Salmons along with forwards Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes in exchange for Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy. Neither team can comment on the trade directly until after its made official on Monday. "Its never a good time to lose one of your starting players but its a situation we all have to roll with and go with," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said moments before facing Kobe Bryant and the Lakers with only 11 players in uniform. After coming to Toronto in a three-team trade from Memphis on Jan. 30, Gay fell out of favour this season, averaging 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting just 39 per cent from the field. Gay can opt out and become a free agent at the end of the year but the Raptors believed he wouldnt walk away from the $19.3 million hes owed, the primary motive for Ujiri. Of the four players coming to Toronto, only Hayes contract is fully guaranteed past this season. Salmons is partially guaranteed for next season - the Raptors would only owe him $1 million if hes waived before June 30 - while Vasquez and Salmons would become free agents this summer if Toronto pulls their qualifying offers. The Raptors went 18-18 after acquiring Gay last season - the sixth best record in the Eastern Conference during that span - but the team, like Gay himself, have gotten off to a disappointing start in 2013-14. Only two players in the league (Vince Carter and Kemba Walker) are shooting worse than Gay (minimum 200 field goal attempts) while the Raptors have won just six of their first 18 games, dropping their last five. Looking to address redundancy at the wing positions - with Gay and the similar DeMar DeRozan accounting for the bulk of Torontos shots - Ujiri opted to hold onto the younger DeRozan, who is having a career season. "Its just part oof the game," said DeRozan after learning about the trade. Kostas Antetokounmpo Mavericks Jersey. . "You think about it but you try to do the best that you can on the court so it doesnt get to the point to where you start questioning whether one or the other will be here." "Its crazy just to see a friend like that go, but once youve been through it a couple of times you kind of understand its part of the game and part of the business," DeRozan said, citing last years trade that brought Gay to Toronto and sent Ed Davis - one of his best friends - to Memphis. Gay was informed of the trade earlier in the day and did not travel with the team to Staples Center. Most of his teammates were informed of the deal after arriving at the arena, including Gray and Acy. Coming off a career year in New Orleans, where he averaged 13.9 points and 9.0 assists, Vasquez fills a need for the Raptors at the point guard position and also makes Kyle Lowry expendable in a subsequent trade. The 26-year-old Venezuelan excels in the pick-and-roll, a weak point for Caseys Raptors and could help aid the continued development of Jonas Valanciunas. Hayes and Patterson are both capable frontcourt players that can be used situationally off the bench in Toronto. Patterson, 24, is averaging 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 17 games with the Kings this season. Selected with the 14th overall pick in 2010 by Houston, Patterson can stretch the floor while Hayes, 30, provides the toughness, rebounding and veteran leadership Casey has been looking for. Landry Fields started in Gays place against the Lakers Sunday. He and sophomore Terrence Ross figure to see an increase in playing time without Gay - who was playing over 35 minutes a night - in the lineup. "Were losing three great guys in my opinion," Fields said. "So its tough but at the end of the day its part of the business. You dont get used to it but you have to shake it off." Acy, 23, had played in 36 games with the Raptors over the past two season - averaging 3.8 points and 2.6 rebounds - after Toronto selected him with the 37th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. Gray, who turned 27 on Saturday has been used sparingly in two-plus years with the team. ' ' '

Michell Burger, a woman who lives on an estate next to Pistorius gated community, said she and her husband were awoken by the screams in the pre-dawn hours of Feb. 14 last year, when Pistorius killed Reeva Steenkamp by shooting four times through a door in his bathroom. Pistorius says he killed Steenkamp by mistake thinking she was a dangerous intruder in his house, but prosecutors believe the world-famous athlete shot his girlfriend after a fight and immediately tried to paint a picture at the trial of a loud argument before the fatal shots. Burgers testimony contradicts Pistorius version of events, because he said he thought Steenkamp was in bed and he did not describe any woman screaming. "It was very traumatic," Burger said, speaking in Afrikaans through an interpreter and in answer to questions from lead prosecutor Gerrie Nel. "You could hear it was blood-curdling screams. You cant translate it into words. The anxiousness in her voice, and fear. It leaves you cold." Burger said: "She screamed terribly and she yelled for help" and testified that she also heard a man shout for help before the shots were fired. Pistorius lawyer, Barry Roux, opened his cross-examination by asking Burger if she thought Pistorius was a liar. She didnt directly answer that with a yes or no, but repeated her recollection of the nights events. "I can only tell the court what I heard that evening," Burger said. "I cannot understand how I could clearly hear a woman scream but Mr. Pistorius could not hear it." But Roux argued she had changed her testimony from the written statement she gave to police soon after the shooting, only adding "blood-curdling" as a description of the screams in court. Pistorius earlier pleaded not guilty at the start of the trial to charges of murder and three other counts relating to shooting guns in public and illegal possession of ammunition. Wearing a dark grey suit and black tie, he spent the first 30 minutes of the first day of the trial at the high court in the South African capital standing before his defence lawyer, Barry Roux, asked the judge for permission for Pistorius to sit. The Olympians murder trial was being broadcast live on TV in South Africa and across the world. The first witness, Burger, was called before even an hour had passed as the prosecution went straight into testimony. The trial itself started 90 minutes late after an earlier delay because of an interpreter problem. When he entered court, Pistorius walked past the victims mother who says she came to court so she can "really look him in the eyes." Defence lawyer Kenny Oldwadge laid out Pistorius legal strategy, reading a statement from Pistorius in which he says the killing was an accident and that there were inconsistencies in the states case, as well as an attempt to introduce inadmissible character evidence to discredit him. In the statement, Pistorius said he brought two fans in ffrom the balcony on the night of the killing, after speaking to his girlfriend who was in bed beside him. Marcus Allen Jersey. He said Steenkamp must have gone into the bathroom while he was fetching the fans. Pistorius said he did not notice that she had gone and heard the bathroom window open. "I approached the bathroom, armed with my firearm, so as to defend Reeva and I," Pistorius said in the statement. He said he then heard a noise in the toilet, and was in a "fearful state" because he was unable to run away or defend himself physically since he was not wearing his prosthetic legs. "The state has embarked on a strategy to rely on unsubstantiated allegations," he said, citing a neighbours testimony that an argument had been heard in his home. According to Pistorius statement, other neighbours living nearby said they had not heard any argument. He also cited evidence provided by police detective Hilton Botha as "false in material respects." In the courtroom, Pistorius was seated near Steenkamps mother, June. She was quoted in the Pretoria News, which published an interview she gave to a British newspaper, saying that she wants to see Pistorius. "I want to look at Oscar, really look him in the eyes, and see for myself the truth about what he did to Reeva," said June Steenkamp, 67. "Whatever the court decides at the end of his trial, I will be ready to forgive him ... But first I want to force him to look at me, Reevas mother, and see the pain and anguish he has inflicted on me. I feel I need that." Reeva Steenkamp was a glamorous model and budding reality TV show star when she was cut down at age 29. Earlier, a drone carrying cameras flew over the entrance to the courthouse in grey, drizzly skies. Several broadcasters massed live broadcast satellite trucks around the courthouse. A 24-hour cable channel devoted to covering the trial was launched in South Africa on Sunday. If convicted on the murder charge, Pistorius could be sent to prison for at least 25 years before the chance of parole, the minimum time someone must serve if given a life sentence in South Africa. South Africa does not have the death penalty. A lesser sentence is possible if Pistorius is found guilty of murder but without premeditation. He also could be convicted of culpable homicide, South Africas version of manslaughter in which someone is killed through negligence. The additional firearms charges relate to him allegedly shooting out of the sunroof of a car in one incident and another when he allegedly fired a gun inside a restaurant, apparently by mistake. Ammunition also was found at his house after the shooting that he allegedly did not have proper licensing for. Judge Thokozile Masipa, hearing the biggest trial of her career, will ultimately pronounce the champion runner innocent or guilty and will decide on any sentence. South Africa has no trial by jury. Parts of the trial will be broadcast on live television, both in South Africa and across the world. A South African cable channel has been launched which will provide 24-hour coverage of the Pistorius trial, using commentators and prepared feature stories when the court is not in session. ' ' '

CLEVELAND -- Andrew Wiggins will sign his rookie contract with the Cavaliers. Miro Heiskanen Stars Jersey . Its still not clear if hell play for them. A person familiar with the negotiations says the Cavs will sign the No. 1 overall pick to his deal, an agreement that would prevent any potential trade involving the small forward from being completed for 30 days. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Cavaliers have been discussing a potential deal that would send All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cavaliers for Wigging, Anthony Bennett and other pieces. The person familiar with the talks says Wiggins will sign with Cleveland as early as Wednesday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the team is not commenting on its plans. The Cavs and Timberwolves have had ongoing discussions about a trade for Love since before Cleveland selected Wiggins first in May. The Timberwolves have always insisted that Wiggins be involved in any package, a stipulation the Cavaliers initially resisted. To help in their pursuit of Love, the Cavs traded guard Carrick Felix to Utah on Tuesday for three players with non-guaranteed contracts. Cleveland acquired guard John Lucas III and forwards Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy from the Jazz in exchange for Felix, a second-round draft pick and cash considerations. The trade will allow the Cavs to clear $3.3 million in salary cap space, room to potentially sign Love or other players. Wiggins inclusion in any deal has been a sticking point for the Cavs. Last week, two people familiar with the discussions said the team was not willing to include Wiggins in a deal. But as talks continued this week, the Cavaliers have softened their stance on including Wiggins, who played well during the teams summer league in Las Vegas, to try and get superstar LeBron James another veteran All-Star teammate. The Cavs have considered acquiring Love and teaming him with James, who recently announced he was returning to Cleveland and signed a two-year, $42.1 million deal with the team. With Love, James and All-Star point guard, Cleveland would have a "Big 3" comparable to what Miami had in James and All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The Timberwolves have also had discussions with the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, among other teams, in recent weeks as they entertain offers for Love, who can opt out of his contract next summer and has told Minnesota he wants to play for a contender. Signing Wiggins to a contract wouldnt necessarily prevent a trade from eventually happening. Under league rules, Wiggins cannot be officially traded for 30 days after he signs. But the Timberwolves and Cavaliers could come to some sort of agreement before that end date and then execute the trade after the window closes. Signing Wiggins could make a trade easier to complete. League rules require teams that are at or over the salary cap to exchange packages of similar dollar values when they make trades. Before Wiggins signs a deal, he has a contract of $0, so his inclusion does not help the Cavaliers get closer to the $15.7 million value they would receive with Loves contract. But when he does sign, Wiggins will have a value of around $5.5 million, which would get the Cavaliers a big step closer to the 80 per cent of Loves contract that they need to reach to make any deal conform to league rules. Having to wait that long to finalize a deal does complicate the negotiating process, with both teams leery of the other backing out during that monthlong moratorium. If the Timberwolves and Cavaliers do come to an agreement, the trade could evolve into a three-team deal. The Wolves have been searching for another team to bring another established, veteran player to the package while potentially moving guard J.J. Barea or other contracts to create room for the incoming players. Mike Modano Stars Jersey . He wants to seize that opportunity. Donald had an eagle and six birdies to shoot 66 on Saturday and take a two-stroke lead over John Huh after three rounds at Harbour Town Golf Links. The Englishman has done just about everything on Harbour Town the past five times hes played -- except win. He fell in a playoff to Brandt Snedeker here in 2011, part of a run of four top-3 finishes since at the tricky, Pete Dye design. Now, hell carry the lead into the final day and is ready to make it stand up on Sunday. "If I can go out as relaxed and confident as I was today tomorrow," he said. "If I can control the trajectory (of shots) as well as I did today, then hopefully Ill be sitting here as the winner." It has been a long time since Donald has been able to say that. Once the worlds top-ranked golfer, Donald has changed coaches and the transition back to the top has not come as quickly as planned. The last of his five PGA Tour wins came in 2012, his best showing this year was a tie for fourth at the Valspar Championship last month and he was quickly bounced at the Masters after shooting 79-70. Donald acknowledged he has grown anxious waiting to win again. "I was the former world No. 1 and was there for a long time and obviously slipped down," said Donald, currently 29th. "But I havent felt my game had gotten that much worse." Certainly not at Harbour Town. Donalds round got started with a 25-footer for eagle on the par-5 second hold. He added four more on the next six holes. Donald then tied leader Nicholas Thompson with a birdie on the 14th before stretching his lead with a final one by rolling in a 15-foot putt on the par-3 17th. Donald nearly closed with a flourish when his approach on the closing, lighthouse hole nearly landed in the cup on the fly before bouncing to the edge and settling for par. Donalds not the longest hitter on tour and said some layouts are dragons he cant slay. "But this one I feel like I can plot my way around with low wedges," he said. "If you miss greens, you need to be pretty good at the short game. Certainly a course that favours my style of play." Huh shot a 68 and was at 6 under. Major champions Charl Schwartzel (68) and Jim Furyk (71), Nicholas Thompson (68) and Ben Martin (71) were tied for third at 5 under. Neal Broten Stars Jersey. Matt Kuchar, ranked sixth in the world, shot 70 as part of a group of five golfers another shot back at 4 under. Donalds performance capped a long day at soggy Harbour Town, where 65 golfers had to finish the second round before the third could begin with K.J. Choi, Furyk and Ben Martin tied for the lead. But by midafternoon, the moisture had softened things and competitors were treated to slick greens easily accepting approach shots. At times, it looked more like a local club shootout than a PGA Tour stop. Thompson, whose sister Lexi won her first LPGA Tour major at the Kraft Nabisco Championship earlier this month, got things going with five birdies on the front nine to lead at 7 under. But bogeys at the 16th and 18th holes dropped him back into the group at 208. Schwartzel, the 2011 Masters champion, was among those with an early start and jumped into the chase with a third-round 68 to move to 5 under. He said the course held up well despite more than 2 1/2 inches of rain that fell here Friday. Schwartzel has not won on the PGA Tour since his surprising run to the green jacket, when he birdied the final four holes. "I think if I can continue the ball striking and giving myself chances, I can make a few (birdies) tomorrow and give it a shot," he said. Furyk, the 2010 winner at Harbour Town, made birdie on his second hole to take the lead at 6 under. He failed to build on that hot start, but held on to stay in the hunt. The craziest day might have belonged to Kuchar, the highest-ranked player competing at Harbour Town after the seasons first major. He followed his fifth-place showing at the Masters last week with a strong bogey-free 66 on Thursday to take the lead. Things went the other way quickly Friday, with Kuchar posting a pair of double bogeys before the rains came and suspended play. Kuchar struggled some more with a bogey on the eighth hole once he restarted Saturday. Then he made four birdies on his back nine to climb back in it. Kuchar has finished fifth or better in his past three events and has a chance to do it again at Harbour Town. "To be playing some good golf and be in contention is fun," he said. "Im excited to have my fourth shot at trying to take a title." ' ' '

SAN DIEGO -- James Shields was on another road mound and thats a good thing for the Kansas City Royals. Thomas Welsh Nuggets Jersey . Then again, he really was at his home away from home. "It was nice to sleep in my own bed last night," Shields said after pitching Kansas City past the San Diego Padres 8-0 Wednesday. Shields (4-3) won at Petco Park, which isnt far from his residence in Rancho Santa Fe. "I got to play with the dog and see the kids for the first time in about a month," Shields said. "It was really nice to be around the house." Shields wasnt a welcome sight for the San Diego batters, scattering seven hits over seven innings. With Eric Hosmer driving in a season-high four runs and the Royals scoring three times in the first inning, Shields was able to win with less than his best. "I didnt think my stuff way that good today," said Shields, who threw a season-high 118 pitches. "I was all over the place, getting behind in counts a lot. It was a grind day, but sometimes you got to go out there without your good stuff and compete and that is what I did." Padres ace Andrew Cashner (2-5) didnt see the fifth inning. "Were kind of in a team-wide funk," Cashner said. The Royals are headed the opposite direction. They won their second straight game, took their first series at Petco Park and snapped a five-game losing skid since rolling into town. "That was what you call an AAGG -- an all-around good game in all phases," Kansas City manager Ned Yost said. "Shields was fantastic, the bullpen was great, our defence was solid and we had very, very good baserunning. And our offence had as good as a day as we have had against a darn good young pitcher in a long time." For a good stretch, Shields, who struck out four and walked two, has been tough on the road. Hes won four straight starts away from Kauffmann Stadium and since the start of last season is 14-4 with a 2.00 ERA. Hosmer got three hits. He finished the series going 7 for 15 with seven RBIs, a homer and a double. "The power numbers will come," Hosmer said. "Im not worried about that. Its early in the season and right now Im just doing anything to help this team win." "The biggest thing today was coming up with runners in scoring position and getting guys in," he said. The Padres scuffled, not having any better luck against two relievers after Shields exited. They were shut out for a major league-high sixth time this season. San Diego has lost six of eight overall. Cashner, who lasted a season-low four innings, had trouble from the start. He threw 43 pitches in the first, hurt by a pair of errors from shortstop Everth Cabrera that led to two unearned runs. "I feel bad for my teammate, for Cashner," Cabrera said. Alcides Escobar reached when Cabrera misplayed his ground ball after Nori Aoki opened with a single. Hosmer hit a two-run single, Alex Gordon reached base two batters later when Cabrera mishandled his grounder and Danny Valencia followed with a broken-bat, RBI single. Cashner ended the inning by getting Shields to ground out with the bases loaded in a nine-pitch at-bat. "That was the best AB of the game," Hosmer said. The Padres had a chance to cut into their deficit in the second when they got three hits. But Cameron Maybin was too aggressive rounding second base on an infield single, and Escobar slid in behind from shortstop, took Hosmers throw from first base and made the tag. Padres manager Bud Black requested a review, but the call stood. It marked the first time in five appeals this season that Black had lost. The Padres tied a season high with three errors, and had a passed ball and wild pitch in allowing four unearned runs. Steve Nash (Lakers): I watched the game Sunday against Minnesota and to see him have to leave the game due to back issues is concerning. He doesnt look like he has the same explosiveness in his game as in the past. Obviously everyone loses that step/pop as we get older but to watch him this season its clear that hes far from 100%. Hes had an amazing career and as I watch right now I wonder whether hell be able to play at a high level and finish his contract with the Lakers through next season. Fingers crossed he gets well; its never easy to watch an older star player deal with injuries at the end of their career. 2. UTAH JAZZ (0-7): Man, I feel bad for Coach Tyrone Corbin. The team he has to coach is far from capable of competing at a high level on most nights. This is going to be a long season for the Jazz faithful in Salt Lake City who have been used to a good or very good level of play for over the past 25 years. Everyone was on board with the Suns (5-2) and 76ers (4-3) as the Tank Nation leaders yet theyve been a pleasant surprise. After watching the Jazz in person and a few Suns and 76ers games on TV there is no doubt that Utah is the worst team in the NBA by far. I understand teams trying to clean up their salary cap and add future picks but this is tough to watch. I feel bad for the season ticket holders and sponsors paying full price for a totally inferior product. 3. STEVEN ADAMS (Thunder): Its not as bad as the grief I get from Raptors fans for their trading of the draft rights to Roy Hibbert (17th overall) for Jermaine ONeal but Im starting to have a few fans already ask me about this guy drafted 12th by OKC with the Raptors pick that was used to acquire Kyle Lowry from Houston. Its so hard to evaluate how a trade works out until you let the whole process work itself out over a period of years in relation to both Lowry and Adams. I will say that so far Adams has impressed me with his great energy, instincts and grit. His numbers are far from Earth shattering (6ppg, 6rpg , 1.3 blocks, 52% shooting) yet if you watch him he has really nice potential and will grow at a nice steady pace in OKC not having the weight of the world on his shoulders as a young player. He was a good get for Sam Presti with the 12th pick. 4. STEVE CLIFFORD (Bobcats): Must be a day for Steves! I hope and pray that hes ok and ready to go again. Hes a longtime friend from my coaching days and weve texted back and forth since his health scare. Hes an outstanding coach and terrific person and will do a nice job for the young Charlotte squad. As I well know, the coaching profession is a meat grinder and incredibly stressful, particularly coaching a young team with limited talent. Every one of these coaches, despite the opinnions on the W-L record and strategies, works their tails off and yes, are well compensated but its still a job that can break you. Jamal Murray Jersey. Ill never forget what former Utah Jazz President, GM and head coach Frank Layden said to me when I was coaching, Remember, the job doesnt love you back. Very true words and when I see Clifford, John Fox (Denver Broncos) and Gary Kubiak (Houston Texans) all experience health episodes I worry what the job/profession has become and whether the price truly is worth it. Its not an easy gig. 5. RUDY GAY & DEMAR DEROZAN (Raptors): Let me get this right out there in the open: they are NOT selfish players. Does the offence slow down and/or come to a stop when they get the ball? At times, yes. With Gay shooting 37 percent and averaging 17.6 field goal attempts, and DeRozan shooting 39 percent and averaging 16.6 field goal attempts, there are a lot of concerns about the fluidity and flow of the Raptors offence. They are legitimate concerns that Im sure Dwane Casey and his staff is spending a significant time on to address. Offensive continuity is a huge challenge on every team and is a tough habit to crack. You watch San Antonio destroy the Knicks Sunday and you see a team where the ball moves and there is incredible flow. You watch the Miami Heat on most nights and the ball and player movement is picturesque. The Raptors have a ways to go to get there but they can. Both Gay and DeRozan are guys that love to probe and attack the defence with the dribble which Im cool with. The area that both need to improve upon is identifying when to dribble it, pass it or shoot it, and they need to decide a whole lot quicker before the defence gangs up on them and their four teammates become spectators. Be decisive. The idea of using four, five, six, evenseven dribbles to create a shot when the other four guys on your team stand and watch and your opponent loads up on you forcing lower percentage shots has to be a no-no. Both are very talented offensive players that can get big numbers on their own and yet more importantly can, and know how to, do it within the confines of a more structured offence. I talk every night to coaches and scouts from opposing teams and the major theme with the Raptors is that at times these two guys make their team too easy to guard with the ball-stopping habits; habits that can and have to be broken. Its easier said than done yet this is a fixable issue. Both are good guys and team guys and want to win yet their style of play sometimes causes indecision by teammates. The improvement of the player and ball movement by the Raptors will lead to a much improved team. I have no doubt that if they improve this area theyll be a tough team for any opponent to defend and thats a benefit to everyone. ' ' '
