However, over the past 7 drafts there have been much more busts than elite receivers selected in the first. For every DeAndre Hopkins there are two Kevin Whites or Laquon Treadwells.The second round, however, is a whole different story. Posting the best average season, the second round wide-receivers boasts game-altering players like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Michael Thomas. Also the second round has valuable players such as Sterling Shepard or Tyler Boyd. Looking at the chart, the second round might be the best spot to draft wide receivers. Looking at the best receivers, the common denominator seems to be that receivers with a great combine shoot up draft boards and end up being drafted way ahead of where they should have been (Guys like Dorsett Tyquan Lewis Jersey , Ross, etc.) and receivers with average combines drop on draft boards just because they run one tenth of a second slower. This is the main reason why DK Metcalf poses plenty of risk, and prospects like JJ Arcega-Whiteside make much more sense to me.As for the third round, the results were quite uninspiring. Many times it seemed like the difference between being a 1st, or 3rd round pick was exclusively your 40 time, which just seems stupid. Every NFL franchise should know by now that speed does not make elite receivers. You can run like Usain Bolt, but if the player cannot run a proper route-tree or cannot catch contested balls or passes not thrown right into their hands, then the player won’t be successful in the NFL. All in all, the point of not drafting a wide receiver in the first round, as it usually does not pan out, makes plenty of sense, as there are still plenty of valuable prospects in the later rounds, but if I learnt anything compiling the chart, is that wide receivers are extremely hard to analyze coming out of college. Aaron Rodgers had two first quarter touchdown passes, a 15-yarder to Jamal Williams and a 12-yarder to Geronimo Allison to put the Packers ahead, 14-0. That was followed by a 3-yard run by Aaron Jones on the second play of the second quarter to make the score 21-0, and things had started just about as badly as possible for the Vikings.Dalvin Cook put a stop to all of that.The big 75-yard run by Cook put the Vikings on the scoreboard, cutting the deficit to 21-7.The Vikings appeared to have a three-yard scoring pass from Kirk Cousins to Stefon Diggs near the end of the second quarter, but after a review, an offensive pass interference call took those points off the board. The Vikings had to settle for a 31-yard field goal by Dan Bailey, and went into the locker room trailing, 21-10.Minnesota got the only points of the third quarter, as Cousins hit Diggs on a deep pass for a 45-yard score. Diggs was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after the play, which made Bailey’s extra point attempt a 48-yarder. That attempt was blocked, making the score 21-16 going into the final quarter of play.The Vikings pushed the ball all the way down to the Green Bay 8-yard line with about five minutes remaining, but then Cousins threw an inexcusable interception when trying to hit Stefon Diggs in the end zone. Kevin King picked the ball off, and the Vikings’ threat was squelched.But Cris Carter Jersey , the Vikings’ defense forced a three-and-out, and gave the offense another opportunity to save the day. . .which they responded to with a three-and-out. Quarterbacks generally get too much credit when things go well and too much blame when they go bad, but Cousins played as big a role in this loss as anyone on the team.Adam Thielen had five catches for 75 yards on the afternoon to pace the Vikings’ receivers, and Chad Beebe had a 61-yard catch-and-run that set up Bailey’s second quarter field goal. Stefon Diggs had one catch, but it was a 45-yard touchdown.Dalvin Cook had what might have been the best game of his NFL career, as he carried the ball 20 times for 154 yards and his 75-yard score. You tackle through them. How important is it to be a consistent tackler who leaves a mark on players when you are tackling?MG: The main thing that I think people shy away from is that hitting someone sticks in a person’s mind for an entire game. We are all human, you know. If you have to think about or second guess playing the same same way that you have always played, especially for offensive players, that slows down the way they usually play and that is an advantage for the defense and the entire team even. That is just the advantage of putting it into their head that if they go my direction, I’m going to make the tackle. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="i08lDh">ZH: Would you label yourself as a tone setter of a defense?MG: Yeah, most definitely. Hilton Jersey , is the ability to cover tight ends. Do you think you match up well with these athletic tight ends in the NFL?MG: Yeah definitely. I would say being able to be so versatile, with playing in the box and checking running backs and tight ends and slot receivers, is a strength for me. Being able to come down and play man or play zone is something I’m very prepared for. He is just versatile. He can play anywhere on the field and there is no drop off in any position you put him at.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="wXCopW">ZH: How well do you think that you would pair with a ballhawking free safety in Malik Hooker?MG: I would say that I would be great because with my skill and his play as a ballhawk, we would be perfect with each other. You got a person who can play in the box and stop the run, when it is necessary, and check the tight ends and running backs and stop the short game, which helps out on the back end and allows him to roam back there.
