DETROIT -- The Boston Bruins took full advantage of Detroits mistakes, and their stellar goaltenders flawless performance. Matthew Thomas Jersey . Dougie Hamilton and Jordan Caron scored in the first period after the Red Wings had miscues on the ice and Tuukka Rask finished with a 23-save shutout, giving Boston a 3-0 win over the Red Wings and a 2-1 series lead in their first-round series. Patrice Bergeron added an empty-net goal late in the third period, sealing the lopsided game. The Presidents Trophy-winning Bruins are ahead in the series for the first time. And, it seems like a commanding lead the way they have played the past two games. "I would never say that," Boston coach Claude Julien insisted. Detroit has to win Game 4 on Thursday night to avoid facing elimination when the series shifts back to Boston. Jimmy Howard made 31 saves for the Red Wings, who needed him to make what appeared to be a routine stop midway through the first period on the first goal. Hamiltons wrist shot from the top of the right circle beat Howards glove on a power play after Detroit had too many men on the ice. "That goal cant go in," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "They were better than us all night, but we gave them two goals." The Red Wings didnt have enough players in position to stop the second goal. After a poorly timed line change, Caron was all alone in front of the net and scored off a rebound created by Shawn Thorntons shot. "Once I turned around and got to the blue line, I saw there was a lot of ice," Thornton said. Detroit had a 5-on-3 power play for 35 seconds midway through the second period and could not take advantage. The Red Wings had perhaps their best chance early in the third period, but Rask made a sprawling stop to get his glove on Justin Abdelkaders shot. "Just tried to track it down and leave the rebound to someone else," Rask said. Detroit did not have many other opportunities against Rask, who ended up with his fourth career playoff shutout. The Red Wings had a power play midway through the third period and got only one shot to Rask, whose teammates prevented the puck from getting to him by putting their bodies and sticks in the way all night. "Thats part of our defensive game," Julien said. "Guys arent afraid to block shots." The Red Wings pulled Howard to have an extra skater late in the game, but failed to dump the puck deep into the Boston end. Bergeron made a long shot into an empty net with 1:59 left to make it 3-0. Since the Red Wings won Game 1 on Pavel Datsyuks goal late in the third period, they have been outscored 7-1. "It hasnt been easy, lets not kid ourselves," Julien said. "Weve been fortunate enough in the last two games to get leads. Were not going to talk about a comfortable situation because until you win that fourth game, it never is." Detroit did not have one of its top forwards, Daniel Alfredsson, because of a back ailment and is still without two key players, captain Henrik Zetterberg and defenceman Jonathan Ericsson, because of injuries. Even with all three of those players and a 100 per cent healthy Pavel Datsyuk, who is playing with a banged-up left knee, Boston simply might be too tough to beat. The defending Eastern Conference and 2011 Stanley Cup champions are big, strong, fast and talented. Boston proved that during the regular season, leading the NHL with 117 points, and has shown how dominant it can be after losing the closely contested Game 1. "Theyve responded since then and weve had no push back in the last two games," Babcock lamented. NOTES: Boston had D Matt Bartkowski in the lineup after the flu led to him missing both games in Boston. He replaced Andrej Meszaros, who appeared to be a healthy scratch. ... Former Red Wings star Sergei Fedorov attended the game. ... Hamilton, drafted No. 9 overall three years ago, scored his first playoff goal and Caron, a first-round pick in 2009, had his first post-season point. ... Detroits fans jeered and booed Boston F Milan Lucic, who was fined $5,000 by the NHL for spearing Detroit D Danny DeKeyser in Game 1. Ramon Foster Jersey . His recovery time is expected to be six to eight months. Seidenberg was injured in the third period of Fridays 5-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators, when he got his leg tangled with forward Cory Conacher. Dermontti Dawson Jersey . Josh Mazzola drove in five runs to lead the Goldeyes (20-12) past the Capitales 11-5 Friday night at Le Stade Municipal in Quebec City. http://www.cheapsteelersjerseysonline.com/ . Salah, who scored against Chelsea in two Champions League group matches this season, is Jose Mourinhos third significant recruit in the January transfer window after Nemanja Matic and Bertrand Traore.VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks made mistakes on back-to-back shifts against a team that knows a thing or two about scoring in quick succession. It cost them dearly on Saturday night. Andrew Shaw and Marcus Kruger scored nine seconds apart early in the third period and Corey Crawford made 36 saves as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated Vancouver 2-1 to send the Canucks to their sixth loss in seven games. Saturdays barrage from the Blackhawks was eerily reminiscent of their Stanley Cup-clinching two goals in 17 seconds late in Game 6 of Junes final against the Boston Bruins. "It can turn around pretty quick if we get some chances, especially the opportunities we got," said Crawford, who outduelled fellow Canadian Olympic hopeful Roberto Luongo. "They were A-plus chances and usually we bury those and we did tonight." Shaw redirected a pass from Patrick Kane in front of Luongo to tie the score 1-1 at 4:40 of the final period, moments after Chicagos Patrick Sharp ripped a shot on a power play that went off the crossbar and both posts but stayed out. The Canucks then somehow gave up a 2-on-1 seconds after the ensuing faceoff, with Kruger firing a shot that went right through Luongo to give Chicago (16-4-4) its second straight victory. "We got a greasy goal, a lucky one there to get us going, and then a big response the following shift. It was a big comeback," said Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville, whose team has scored a league-high 87 goals this season. "We havent had many games like this. Tight, tight games going into the third period so its nice to find a way." One night after his team exploded for a 6-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets to snap a five-game losing streak that included just six Vancouver goals, Canucks head coach John Tortorella lamented the two lapses in concentration. "I think we beat ourselves there, and teams like Chicago will capitalize on that," he said. "We kill a penalty, we get our guy on the ice and we throw the puck away -- ends up in our net. A faceoff (play) we run and how we forecheck off a faceoff every time, we decide to go off the map with it and we give up an odd-man rush -- its in our net. "Thats a big part of the game." Ryan Kesler scored on a 5-on-3 man advantage in the first period for Vancouver (12-9-4), which has been held to one goal in 10 of its 25 games so far this season. The Canucks are 0-9-3 when scoring two goals or less and 12-0-1 when scoring three times or more. Despite Vancouvers struggles to find offence, Luongo said his team cant forget about its own end. "We have to learn how to win some games 1-0, 2-1," said Luongo, who played on consecutive nights for the first time since November 2011 and finished with 27 ssaves. L.T. Walton Jersey. "Thats the way the league is right now. We cant just focus on the offence. If you look around the league, its all low-scoring games. We have to find a way to win those." After Chicago took the lead, Vancouvers Dale Weise had a great chance to tie things up but saw Crawford smother his backhand chance with under eight minutes to go. The Canucks continued to press late, with Alexandre Burrows fanning on a shot in front off a pass with Luongo on the bench for the extra attacker before Daniel Sedin also failed to connect from the slot. "We have to put pucks away. It cant just be one game and then youre off again," said Canucks captain Henrik Sedin. "Its about getting that feeling when youre going to score goals. Right now its not happening." Trailing 1-0 after the first period despite carrying the majority of the play, Chicago was thwarted by both Luongo and a lack of accuracy in front of goal in the second. Johnny Oduya ripped a shot wide from the slot early in the period before Luongo stopped a Shaw deflection and made a pad save on Brandon Saad. Vancouvers No. 1-ranked penalty killing then fought off Chicagos first power-play opportunity of the night, with the Blackhawks best chance coming when Jonathan Toews fired a shot wide from the slot. Burrows, who has not scored in any of his 14 games this season, then had a chance on a wraparound but couldnt find the range to beat Crawford. "The most frustrating part is that you feel youre letting your teammates down," Burrows said of his slump. "Theyre counting on you to score some goals and youre not getting the job done." Kesler opened the scoring late in the first period when Vancouvers 29th-ranked power play connected on a two-man advantage against Chicagos equally feeble 29th-ranked penalty killing unit. Jason Garrisons one-timer from the point rebounded right out to Kesler, who settled himself before burying his 10th of the season and first in eight games. "I feel like we owned that first period and they come out on top, but we didnt get down on ourselves," said Shaw. "We kept working and stuck to it all game and it just took nine seconds." Notes: Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa missed the game for "family reasons." The team did not provide a timeline for his return. ... Canucks forward Zach Kassian was benched was benched for the third period and saw just 4:10 of ice time on the night. ...
